A student is
person who seeks for knowledge. The sole and foremost object of a student is to augment his awareness. He desires to explore and penetrate into the phenomena
of nature. He deliberately ponders over the mysteries of the universe to learn
more and more. Though man, with steady struggle, has discovered a lot but as
compared to the mystique of the universe, it is just equal to a naught.

To march ahead on the path
of progress, a nation must produce a generation of talented and hardworking
youth. Nonetheless, to create quality citizens is not a child’s play. It cannot
be achieved overnight. The first step is to produce ideal students in our
schools and colleges. These ideal students would go on to become ideal citizens
and accomplished professionals.

The question still remains
that who is an ideal student? There is no definite answer to that because there
are many qualities that together define an ideal student. The most important of
these qualities is that he takes the responsibility of being a good student. He works hard to learn more and more. He
should not be only industrious but also active.
But his objective of studying is not to only score good marks or secure
a high rank. Beyond that he has a passion for knowledge, an interest to
anything he observes. He believes that:

He should have some definite goals in
life. He should strive really hard to achieve his goal. He should not like an “ineffectual angel beating his wings in void
and vain.” Rather, he should become the herald of new era and work for the
rejuvenation of world. He should not be a
man with a limited scope. He should aim at becoming the savior and hero of
humanity. He should always be cheerful and maintains a positive approach to
life. He should spread hope and beatitude wherever he goes.

Persistence, perseverance
and patience are some of the other qualities of an ideal learner. He must not
be disappointed at the dismal and odd circumstances. He must reveal his strong
determination for the accomplishment of his assignment. He should be able to
countenance cold and cruel conditions. He should have the endurance of Hazrat
Yaqob (A.S.) and the resolution of Hazrat Naoh (A.S.)

An ideal student is meek and humble. He
never boasts of his knowledge. He is always helpful to his fellow students. He
respects his teachers, parents and all elderly persons. Virtues like kindness,
compassion, sincerity, honesty, politeness are found in abundance in him. In
time of crisis of his friends, he is the first person to stand by them. He
speaks politely to everybody. He is a man of good character.

He
studies with devotions, speaks after thinking, leaps after looking, decides
after meditation and serves with sincerity. He is neither a book worm nor a
frog in a small well. He takes part in
co-curricular as well as extra-curricular activities. He is good at sports and
an active athlete. He is a good at debate as well. All these activities keep
him sound and healthy.

An ideal student avoids bad company and temptations. He
devotes his full time to his studies. He is thrifty and never wastes his
parents’ hard-earned money. He is
punctual and never wastes time. He chalks out a program of his daily duties and
goes through it carefully. He likes informative and science related movies and also
uses social media but seldom. However, he also reads good books as these are
like a treat for his intellect. Moreover, he likes to associate with the
virtuous and the pious people.

Above all, an ideal student is a true Muslim and a true
patriot. He follows the Sunnah of the Savior of Mankind. He says his prayers
regularly. He is cautious towards his religious dealings. He is rational and
logical in his doings. Regarding patriotism, he follows the quote of founder of
Pakistan, “Unity, Faith and Discipline.”
He loves his country and serves it with the best of his efforts.

To
sum up, man’s life is motivated by idealism and perfection. Both are
desirable but not attainable in purely theoretical meanings. But still these
two inspired men to showcase feats of extraordinary achievements since the
inception of human race and these achievements are and will be echoing in
eternity. In the same way, being an ideal student is a proposition though not
possible by the look of the phrase itself but still cultivation of above
mentioned habits and attitude will take us near being ideal.
